DU Grace Marks: The University of Delhi has recently announced that 10 grace marks will be awarded to the students who are not able to complete one final paper despite using all the facilities available. The provision also applies to students whose graduation was decided for 2021-22 and 2022-23 (beginning of COVID-19). Further, it comprises students who participated in centenary chance, allowing a maximum of 4 papers.
As per PTI, "If a student has not been able to complete his/her degree because they flunked a single paper, the Delhi University will grant 10 additional marks to such students to help them pass the exam and obtain their degree," says a DU official.
Who Will Get Grace Marks?
It must be noted that only those students who have failed to pass a single paper after trying every possible exceptional opportunity will get the extra 10 marks. The representative underlined that this is a one-time offer and that it is meant to help students who are facing challenges in finishing their degrees.
The order is applied to MPhil students in addition to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students. The university's highest decision-making body, the Executive Council, approved it to assist students who faced unforeseen challenges during the pandemic.
DU to Establish Committee for Seamless Procedure
To streamline the procedure, the institution is thinking about forming a committee of academic advisers, instructors, and administrators. This committee will consider variables such as difficulties with distance learning, limited access to resources, or health concerns when evaluating students' requests for grace marks.
Students who are unable to pass the single paper must give a convincing reason, and the committee will decide each case individually. In addition, the committee may decide to set up a special chance exam to help qualified students finish their degrees.
