
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has launched the ‘Financial Literacy Workbook’ for the students from class 6. The book has been prepared by the Central Board of Secondary Education and the National Payments Corporation of India.
The Union Education Minister while announcing the launch of the workbook stated that young students will now be able to gain knowledge on the basics of financial concepts, insights about digital payments, and much more with the help of the newly launched book which has been curated by the CBSE and the NPCI.
The minister also added that the book will be used in ‘Financial Literacy; subject offered as an elective subject for the class 6 CBSE students helping them to develop an interest in banking and payments and study its relevance in today's time. The book will also help the students and teachers understand the origin of banking, the transition from coins to paper money, types of banks, major operations and services carried out by banks, etc.
According to the details provided, the Financial Literacy Workbook is divided into four units and covers important topics such as financial awareness from basic financial concepts like Currency Banking, Security, Savings and Investments, UPI, RuPay Cards, Wallets to the concepts like IMPS, USSD, NACH, PoS, mPoS, QR Codes and ATMs.
CBSE petitions in Delhi HC
According to reports, a petition has been filed in Delhi High Court asking the schools affiliated to the board to publish the rationale document for the evaluation criteria released fr the class 10 students. The order stated that these documents must be published before calculating the results and uploading the same on the CBSE portal. This, according to the petition, will bring transparency in the CBSE Class 10 evaluation process.
