CBSE to launch Hubs of Learning initiative for exchange of resources

CBSE is going to form a Hub of Learning (HoL) for better exchange of resources among neighbourhood schools. HoL will be implemented by July 2019.

Hubs of Learning: CBSE is going to form a Hub of Learning (HoL) for better exchange of resources among neighbourhood schools. HoL will be implemented by July 2019. CBSE has been launching some initiatives for the last few years. CBSE has re-introduced 10th board exam, two levels of maths for class 10 students, launch of App Shiksha Vani, introduction of  yoga are to name a few initiatives. In this series, another initiative is being added by the introduction of Hubs of Learning or HoL.

What is Hubs of Learning or HoL

HoL is a collaborative partnership among the schools in the same area. HoL includes a group of 4 to 6 schools in the area. CBSE will assign the schools under HoL. Also, being a part of HoL is mandatory for all the schools. The board will assign a unique number to HoL formed on the basis of state, district and city. The board is planning to execute it latest by July 2019.

What will be Shared under HoL

Under HoL, all the schools in the same area will share their resources. The resources will comprise intellectual and physical resources. Schools, under HoL, will share teachers, sports grounds, labs etc. Since the schools are sharing their resources so the activities will include interchange of academic material, curriculum planning and other academic activities. The schools in the HoL will share the best practices being followed in their schools.

In HoL, there will be teacher development programmes so that the professional efficiency of the teachers can be enhanced. There are provisions for the development of a curriculum for the children with special needs and skill developments of the students. These steps will be helpful in uplifting the standard of the education in the country. The HoL will be operated by the lead school which will be picked by CBSE on the basis of the performance in the board exams. The lead school will be for a period of two years on the rotation basis.
