ICAI CA May Exam 2020:

ICAI CA May Exam 2020: Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has released a revised policy for the CA May Exam 2020. In the new draft policy published by ICAI, the institute has removed the clause related to re-evaluation of exam paper despite students’ protests for the same last year after November Results. The draft exam policy has been released by the ICAI after months of consultations between the expert committee appointed to evaluate the CA Exam process and its regulations. The draft ICAI CA May Exam 2020 policy has been released based on the recommendations of the expert committee.

Re-evaluation Clause Omitted

ICAI, in its latest draft policy has decided to omit the clause for re-evaluation of the exam papers after the completion of the exam and declaration of results. This decision comes despite the high-voltage protest staged by CA students and aspirants in Delhi and at various exam centres across the country last year, following November 2019 Results demanding re-evaluation of answer sheets. ICAI’s draft exam policy has omitted clause of re-evaluation of answer sheets citing the regulation 39 (4) of CA Regulations 1988. This clause says "re-examination of answers shall not be permitted under any circumstances", as per CA exam regulator. Last year, protesting students had demanded that this clause be amended to allow re-evaluation of the answer booklets.

Clarification about Suggested Answers

The draft exam policy released by ICAI for CA May 2020 Exam also provides much needed clarity about the suggested answers and how they are not part of the official evaluation process for ICAI CA Exam 2020. According to the draft policy, the suggested answers provided by ICAI are model answers and are indicative in nature and not exhaustive. Therefore, students should not consider these suggested answers to be complete or actual answers that can fetch maximum marks. The draft policy also mentions that suggested answers do not constitute the basis for evaluation of the students' answers in the examination.

Suggestions invited until February 24

With the draft policy published today, ICAI has invited suggestions and recommendations from stakeholders on the draft policy to improve. Feedback or suggestions against the ICAI CA Exam Policy 2020 can be submitted by the stakeholders until 24th February 2020.
