The Karnataka Bandh on March 22, parents, students, and teachers are unsure if schools will be open or closed on that day. The Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill and occurrences in the Belagavi region, when a bus conductor from the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) was attacked for not speaking Marathi, are the reasons behind the bandh, which was called by pro-Kannada organizations.
Impact on Schools Due to Karnataka Bandh
- The bandh is happening during an important exam season.
- SSLC exams start on March 21, but no exams are scheduled for March 22, the day of the bandh.
- However, some lower classes have exams that day.
- The Associated Managements of Private Unaided Schools in Karnataka confirmed that exams will proceed as planned.
- The association is concerned that postponing or canceling exams could disrupt students' schedules.
TNN reported D Shashi Kumar, General Secretary of the association saying,
"We want to participate in the protest, but we can only extend moral support due to the ongoing exams across the state. Cancelling or postponing them will affect children, which we don't want to happen."
Problems with transportation and student safety
There will probably be transportation problems because no cabs will be operating because drivers who are members of the Ola Uber Drivers' and Owners' Association have vowed to support the bandh.
Also, a large number of Bengaluru's 2 lakh autorickshaws might not operate, which would impact students who depend on them for their everyday journey.
Bus operations have not yet been verified by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), however pupils may find it difficult to get to school safely if there is limited transit.

School decisions pending on Karnataka Bandh
Some schools have adopted a 'wait and watch' approach.
Rearranging internal exams or using online courses are two options available to some universities in order to reduce annoyance. Parents and kids are urged to keep in touch with school officials as the bandh approaches in order to receive timely updates.
Whether or not schools remain open for the time being will depend on the level of bandh activity and the accessibility of safe student transportation.
