Maharashtra School Timings Changed: The Maharashtra government has issued a circular instructing schools to begin classes from pre-primary to class 4 after 9 am. The state education administration took this action after Governor Ramesh Bais showed his disapproval of the early school timings for primary classes.
As per the latest circular, those schools starting classes from pre-primary to class 4 before 9 am must adjust their schedules accordingly. Moreover, the circular states that school administrators who are having trouble revising their timings should approach the relevant district education officer and find a resolution.
Aim Of Changing Maharashtra School Timings
The circular cited that students were not getting enough sleep because of lifestyle changes like staying up late, listening to loud music, and having access to a variety of entertainment options. The document also mentioned that the enthusiasm of students has also suffered as a result.
The circular further states that schools should not face any challenges in adhering to the directions outlined in the Right to Education Act of 2009. Governor Ramesh Bais proposed a shift in school hours in December of last year while launching several initiatives by the education department.
The Governor mentioned that everyone’s sleep timings have changed in recent times. Many children are awake even after midnight. Yet they have to wake up early to attend school. This results in inadequate sleep for children and calls for changes in school timings. As a result of such reasons, Maharashtra schools have been directed to begin at 9 am.
