Mumbai School Reopening: With Schools across Mumbai slated to reopen from 15th December 2021, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, BMC, has asked all the schools to complete the necessary preparations for the same. According to the BMC’s orders passed earlier, Schools in the Mumbai’s urban areas will being for Class 1 to 7 students from 15th December, whereas in rural areas, schools will resume for 1st to 4th Class students from the same date.
Staff Vaccination to be Completed Before Reopening
With preparations in full-swing to ensure safe and timely reopening of schools in the Mumbai region, the BMC has directed schools to ensure vaccination of all the staff members. The civic agency as part of the preparations has asked all schools to finish making arrangements and ensure that the staff is vaccinated, ahead of the reopening. Media reports have confirmed that the SOPs and guidelines released for school reopening has made it mandatory for all teachers and staff members to get vaccinated before coming to the campus. This step is being treated as very vital part of the reopening process as India still has not opened vaccination for school kids; therefore, keeping their safety as the top priority, BMC has made vaccination compulsory for staff members.
Virtal PTA before Reopening of Schools
Another important confidence building measure as part of the school reopening is to hold a virtual Parent – Teacher Meeting before the reopening of schools. Mumbai Schools have also been asked to hold virtual meetings with parents before schools reopen to help them understand the preparations put in place for the reopening of school and give them confidence to send their children or wards to school. This comes following concerns raised by a few parents about reopening of schools amid reports about Omicron variant. To ensure that all arrangements are in place, BMC has also asked schools to submit a report on the same before they reopen.
