Indira Gandhi National Open University has launched Postgraduate programmes and Diplomas in Environmental and Occupational Health. The courses will be conducted online by the School of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies at IGNOU. As per the schedule provided, the last date for students to complete the application process is January 31, 2022.

The programmes were launched in the presence of the Governor of Jharkhand - Ramesh Bais. During the launch, the government stated that these programmes are being introduced in line with the mission of Environmental and Occupational Health to reduce and prevent the adverse effects on human health caused by environmental and occupational exposures including chemical and biological contamination through education and research programmes.
He further stated that the programme will revolve around providing the theoretical understanding and transferable skills of the general public and industrial workers. Minister for Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. A. Suresh also added that the programmes are important for global environmental health since they would help in creating awareness and increase knowledge for the same.
Steps to apply for the Environmental and Occupational Health programme

Course details
The course has been designed as per the National Education Policy, NEP 2020. IGNOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Nageshwar Rao stated that IGNOU serves the educational aspirations of over 3.6 million students in India and other countries through 21 Schools of Studies and a network of 67 Regional Centres with around 2000 Learners Support Centres and 20 overseas institutions.
As per reports, the programmes will be coordinated by Professor B Rupini, Dr. Sushmitha Bashar, and Professor Ruchika Kubaof the School of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Studies and School of Health Science at IGNOU.
