Reason for Reopening of Medical Colleges

After a drop in the number of daily COVID-19 cases and after a comprehensive deliberation with concerned stakeholders and health experts, the Medical Education and Research Minister O P Soni came to this decision. In an official statement, Mr Soni said that RT-PCR negative report or anti-Covid vaccination certificate (even one dose) has been made mandatory for students to join classes.

Earlier, the physical classes had been suspended due to the surge in the COVID pandemic. On Monday, Punjab registered 340 fresh cases of COVID-19, taking the infection tally to 5,92,658, while 24 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 15,854, according to a medical bulletin. The number of active cases stood at 6,477.

Punjab Board Exam 2021

The Punjab board exam 2021 was cancelled for both classes 10th and 12th due to COVID-19 this year. Earlier, Punjab School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla announced that the PSEB 12th result 2021 will be declared on basis of the CBSE formula. Whereas class 10th result 2021 was declared based on internal assessments on 17th May.

For the Punjab Board class 12th students who had changed streams after class 11th, the class 11th marks weightage will be done away with. Their Punjab Board 12th result will be based on their class 10 marks. Also marking will be done based on marks obtained in the pre-boards, practical exams, and internal assessments in class 12.
