National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) is one of the top Development Financial Institution in India headquartered at Mumbai, which is considered as the financial and entertainment capital of India. The bank has its branches all over the country and is responsible for developing and supporting the small scale industry and village agriculture and rural industries by providing them credit and loans in lesser rates. It is responsible for the integrated development of the rural and small scale industry in the country with providing investment and production credit in promoting various developmental activities in rural areas. It also monitors and evaluates the projects and business supported by the bank. It keeps a check on the client institutes and refinances to the financial institutes who in turn help the rural business sector or are agents of change in the small scale industrial sector. NABARD is the result of a review committee established in the year 1979 under the Chairmanship of Shri B. Sivaraman. The bank came into existence on 12 July, 1982 and all the agricultural credit functions of RBI and refinance functions were then transferred to the newly formed NABARD. The bank which started its journey with a mere capital of Rs. 100 crore has rose significantly in the years and as of the year 2015 its valuation has crossed over Rs. 5000 crore.

Just like in any private bank or national public bank, the interested candidates who want to join NABARD can do the same by applying for the posts in the bank whenever vacancy arises. NABARD offers various positions in various groups for interested candidates to take up. These posts are for various branches of the bank which is situated in places like Hyderabad, Port Blair, Patna, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Bhubaneswar. The number of vacancies might not be exuberant in this bank but the chances of getting through to any post and getting the job is easier as the competition is less severe for the posts offered by NABARD then in posts offered by RBI, SBI or IBPS. The candidates are recruited in NABARD under six groups namely: A to C.
The Group A includes officer grade positions such as Assistant Manager, Private Secretary, Manager/Officer, Assistant General Manager etc. The Group B includes all the assistant level employees and the Group C includes maintenance and caretaker level employees in the bank. The salary of the candidates depends on their designation and experience in the relevant field. The pay perk of NABARD has better salary structure than commercial banks in the nation. NABARD recruits candidates periodically, whenever there is recruitment in any of the branches of the bank.
Selection Procedure for NABARD Jobs
Candidates, who have interest in joining NABARD as their career choice, need to keep an eye on the official website of NABARD for any information regarding vacant positions. The candidates then have to download the official notification associated with the post and undergo the requirements, eligibility and other details carefully. Upon reading the instructions carefully the candidates need to apply for the post either online or offline in due manner. The candidates who are eligible for the posts would have to either undergo written test or personal interview. Upon selection in the written test/personal interview round the candidates would have to undergo a probationary period of one/two years in any of the NABARD branch, after which their candidature would get finalized in the bank.
