Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has finally completed its placement drive with 100 per cent students placed on Day 1. It is a congratulatory achievement for the institute as the 54th batch of flagship PGP programme has received an average salary of Rs 25.36 lakhs. There are 441 students in the entire batch and all of them have bagged decent placements with over 501 job offers. A total of 123 firms visited the campus this year and extended over 501 job offers to the candidates. An average cost-to-company (CTC) of Rs. 25.36 lakh and median of Rs 23.5 lakh was offered to the candidates. This year’s placement drive has shown a substantial increase of Rs 1.16 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh, respectively in the CTC offered to the candidates of PGP batch.

Chairman of CDPO, Prof. Abhishek Goel, also commented on the recent success of IIM-Calcutta by stating that, “Some student volunteers co-developed a scheduling system with a Bangalore-based start-up aimed at increasing efficiency and ensuring maximization of interface opportunities between students and recruiters. Automation has helped us.”
As per the official sources of IIM-C, fifty per cent batch has accepted offers in consulting (29 per cent) and finance (21 per cent) sectors. In others sectors, such as General Management (14 per cent), Sales and Marketing (12 per cent) and IT-Analytics (8 per cent) candidates were hired in large numbers too. Apart from this, firms in e-commerce, operations and product management also hired good number of candidates from the institute (16 per cent). A total of 68 offers were being accepted by the class of 2019 from these firms.

Top hiring firms in the consulting sector includes renowned global brands such as AT Kearney, Bain and Co., Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Co made that extended offers in double digits to the PGP graduates. Top firms in the finance sector that showed keen interest in recruiting IIM-Calcutta graduates were Goldman Sachs, Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML), Citi, JP Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank. Popular and successful brands namely Amazon, Uber, Udaan, Media.Net, Flipkart, Microsoft that have an established base in the e-commerce sector visited the campus for hiring the candidates.
Sharing about the progress and the demand of IIM- Calcutta’s graduates in the industry, IIM Calcutta’s Director Anju Seth said, "I am delighted to see such strong demand for the skill set of the participants of our MBA programme. This bears testimony to their talent and to the value added by the high quality education that we impart at the institute."
