IIT Madras concludes Final Placement for PGP Batch of 2015-17

IIT Madras, Department of Management (DoM), concludes final placements 2017 for the PGP batch 2015-17. With a highest package of Rs. 22.15 LPA which indicates an increase of 6 per cent in the package from the previous year.

IIT Madras has completed the final placement drive for its PGP batch of 2015-17. There were 56 students in the current batch of PG programme emerging from diverse background. In the whole batch 32 per cent candidates were women. This year IIT Madras graduate bagged highest package of Rs. 22.15 LPA which indicates an increase of 6 per cent from the previous year.

Students received best brands and lucrative profiles in the placement drive conducted by the institute.

IIT Madras Placement 2017: Salary Statistics

In the year 2017, IIM Madras witnessed a decent increase in the salary packages of the student graduating from the reputed institute. Despite of being one of the most coveted engineering colleges of India, the institute has not lost its sheen in proving best management education and skills to the MBA aspirants. The institute has also made great efforts in placing 98 per cent of the batch in top profiles with leading brands.

The institute recorded highest salary package of Rs.27.20 LPA and an average salary of Rs. 13.10 LPA. The average salary of top 10 per cent students was Rs. 18.20 LPA and that of top 50 per cent batch was Rs. 14.43 LPA. The table given below summarises the salary statistics of IIT Madras’ MBA placements.

Domain-wise distribution of Placement Packages

In the final placement round of IIT Madras, maximum students got placed in profiles emerging from IT/ITES domain (32 per cent), Operations domain stood at second position with 30 per cent students getting placed in this domain. BFSI and Consulting followed the lead with 20 per cent and 18 per cent each.


Finance Domain

Leading brands such as ICICI, HSBC, RBS recruited 18 per cent students from the batch of IIT Madras. The students were offered roles in financial analyst and relationship manager profiles.

Marketing Domain

Around 11 per cent of the batch strength got placed in the profiles offered from marketing domain. Eminent brands such as Amazon, Carwale, FSS hired the talented IIT management graduates from the campus. Roles ranging from product management profiles to program managers were offered to the management graduates of IIT Madras.

Operations Domain

Pioneering brands such as Ford, Titan to name a few, hired IIT Madras job aspirants in the challenging job profiles such as supply chain management and business data analyst. 20 per cent batch got placed in the profiles emerging from operations domain.  

IT/ITES Domain

Nearly 27 per cent students were hired by Wipro, TCS, Dell for the profiles offered in IT domain. Young and talented management graduates were hired for the positions such as data scientist and business analyst.

Integrative Management Domain

Roles such as consulting and product analysis were offered to 24 per cent of the batch by various leading brands such as Google, McKinsey, Cisco, Mu Sigma, PwC and Virtuasa.
