Malavika Harita, the CEO of renowned communication agency Saatchi & Saatchi Focus Network, received the Distinguished Alumni Award 2013 of IIM-Bangalore. She’s the first woman to win this award in history of the 40-year-old IIM-B that has been criticized for its off-balance gender ratio.
Belongs to the 1982 PGP batch of IIM-B, Malavika is the founder of Saatchi & Saatchi Focus Network. She has been applauded for her strides in the field of advertising. She is also an alumnus of Mount Carmel College with a degree in Science and IIM-B, and the London School of Economics & Political Science.
While speaking about her education in the institute, Malavika said, “It was here that I got a new perspective to life. This place gave me an opportunity to fall in love with communication and I never fell out of love".
Malavika further recalled her mother’s saying that gender should never be an excuse for poor performance. Citing gender as an excuse is a lazy thing to do, she added.
