New Academic Session of Class 11 And 12 To Commence From April 15, 2014

Mar 10, 2014 04:10 IST

The new academic session for standard 11 and 12 is to begin from April 15, 2014 instead of April 1, 2014, as directed to Schools by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) via a circular notification.

The most recent circular issued by CBSE has mentioned that the new session is postponed by 15 days so that teachers may get enough time to evaluate the board’s Class 10 and 12 examination papers. The evaluation of examination paper usually continues until the last week of April, and delay in classes will let teachers maintain the “quality of evaluation”.

An academic session generally means a period of 12 months duration, which in case of School is held from April to March. With the rescheduling of new academic-session commencement date of class 11 and 12, the CBSE will be able to depute a sufficient number of postgraduate teachers for evaluation of answer sheets, without interfering in the school’s functioning, explained the circular said.

To assess the CBSE board papers, each city has a checking centre comprising local teachers, mainly postgraduate ones, to assess CBSE papers.

The CBSE counsellor Rakesh Sachdeva said that this circular would let local paper checking centres to evaluate the papers in time.

The board has also decided to appoint an adequate number of teachers for this purpose, Sachdeva added.,
