Selection Procedure for SBI’s Specialist Officers’ examination 2012

Selection of candidates for the post of Specialist Officers with State Bank of India will be done in either of the two ways:

1.    Short-listing and Interview
2.    Written Test and Interview

Short listing and Interview: If the number of applications received for the post of Specialist Officers with State Bank of India is low, the Bank may consider selecting the candidates for Interview by short-listing, instead of written test.

The short-listing of candidate’s for Interview would be done on the basis of candidates’ age, educational qualification and experience.

However, if the number of applications received for the post of Specialist Officers with State Bank of India is considerable, the candidates, found eligible for the post, will have to appear for a written test, followed by an interview of those who qualify the written test.

The Written test will be held on-line. Detailed information about the written test for recruitment as Specialist Officers with State Bank of India is given below:

The written test will comprise of test of English Language, Reasoning and/or Quantitative Aptitude and test of Professional Knowledge.

Except for the Professional Knowledge paper, other papers will be of qualifying in nature. Candidates will have to score minimum qualifying marks, as decided by the Bank, in these papers.

In the Professional Knowledge paper, candidate’s will have to score equal to or above the Cut-off marks, as decided by the Bank, to be eligible for being short-listed for the Interview.

So, a candidate must concentrate on the above mentioned topics while preparing for the examination.

The question booklets for all the papers would be bilingual i.e. in Hindi & in English. Except in the test of English Language, candidates would be allowed to answer the questions in Hindi or in English.

For final selection, candidates will have to secure equal to or more than the minimum qualifying marks (to be decided by the Bank) in the Interview. Candidates can opt for Hindi as medium of conversation during the Interview.

Merit List of those finally selected for the post of Specialist Officer will be prepared in descending order on the basis of the scores obtained by the candidates in Professional Knowledge test and Interview OR in Interview only, as the case may be.

Candidates should prepare for the written test in such a way that they are able to answer maximum questions correctly in minimum time possible. So, they should work on their speed also.

The written tests may be held at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Bangalore, Bhopal, Raipur, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Chennai, Madurai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, Kolkata, Lucknow, Varanasi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Dehradun, Jaipur, New Delhi, Patna, Ranchi, Ernakulam & Trivandrum centres.

The Bank, however, reserves the right to add, delete or allot any center at its discretion.
