For Delhi University (DU) students it will now be easier to submit their transcripts to a university or an MNC set in abroad as the Delhi University is planning to make transcripts easily available online. The students will have to register themselves online in order to submit their transcript and pay the fee online. A Personal Identification Number (PIN) would be given to individual students by the university upon registration online. The students would then be able to submit their PIN to any university of their choice, company or any other organization and the organization can then access the transcripts of the students directly from the Delhi University server.
Moving ahead in the direction to make it a success, the university has already digitized mark sheets of last two years of its students. The initiative by the university would save immense time for the students who are willing to apply abroad for their higher studies as the transcripts would be available on a go through the university’s server. According to a senior DU official, “We are ready with the plan and are now waiting for the finalization of the payment gateway, which the finance department is going to do. But if things go according to the plan, then this facility can be rolled out as early as December this year. In the meantime, we are also in the process of digitizing the transcripts for years previous to 2013.”
This year onwards the university has provided online mark sheets to its students. Nine post graduate department mark sheets were also made available online this year by the university. The university is yet to decide finally on the matter of making the transcripts online, but it is expected to bring down the cost of getting these transcripts as well. According to another official, “But it will cost less than the hard copy delivery process.” He further mentioned, “The students have to first register using his/her enrollment number as given by the exam branch. Then, one can select the document one is looking for. If the student wants a transcript, he/she has to make the payment online, following which the PIN will be sent to them.” Along with the online copies the students can also ask for the hard copies of the transcripts from the university.
