Q. Why do I have brown eyes?
Ans. Eye colour is an inherited trait. The genes we inherit from our parents determine our eye colour. If one of the parents has brown eyes, and the other has blue, then it is most probable that their child will have brown eyes. The reason being that the brown-eye gene is dominant, whereas the blue-eye gene is recessive. The dominant gene usually prevails over the recessive one. Also, it is possible for a child to have blue eyes even if both his parents have brown eyes because his parents probably inherited recessive blue-eye genes from their parents and passed them on to the child.
