Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), a 100 percent subsidiary of Tata Power, has announced the commissioning of two Solar Power Projects in Uttar Pradesh.
The two power projects worth 100MW with each having 50MW of capacity will be developed in the Prayagraj and Banda regions of Uttar Pradesh.
The two solar power plants are expected to generate over 221.26 million units of solar power annually.

Solar Power Plant in Prayagraj
• According to Tata Power Renewable Energy, around 1,59,600 modules were used to set up the solar project at Prayagraj.
• The solar power plant installation is expected to reduce 91,137 lakh tons of carbon emission every year.
• The project involved the installation of 16 Inverters, 103.25 km of DC cable and 4,87,080 man-hours of work.
Solar Power Plant in Banda
The company used 1,67,440 modules over 236 acres of land to set up the solar project in Banda.
The project involved the installation of again 16 invertors and 3,35,000 man-hours of work.
Benefits
• The two solar power plants at Prayagraj and Banda are expected to reduce 1,77,037 lakh tons of carbon emissions annually.
• Tata Power Renewable Energy had signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) for these two projects.
• The commissioning of the two projects has taken the renewable energy capacity in operation for Tata Power to 3,055 MW with 2,123MW coming from Solar energy and the remaining 932MW coming from wind energy.
• Tata Power's total renewable capacity will be 4,909 MW as another 1854MW of renewable projects are currently under various stages of implementation.

The company was able to successfully complete the project within the set timelines amid various challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic due to excellent project execution capabilities, said the company in its statement.
