CBSE 12th Exam 2021 Update: The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing for the Petition challenging the decision of the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Council for Indian School Certificate Exams to cancel the class 12 board examinations. As per reports a few of the students have questioned the CBSE and CISCE marking scheme and have asked for the boards to conduct the examinations for the students. A special vacation bench consisting of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dines Maheshwari heard the matter in court today.
The counsel appearing for the students who filed the petition stated that the exams must be conducted as the positivity rate of COVID cases has decreased. The counsel further argued that the evaluation scheme set by the CISCE was not clear. The court has now asked the board to clarify the grievances conveyed by the petitioners.
1100 Students Approach the Apex Court
As per the media report, a total of 1,152 students have reached out to the Supreme Court of India by filing a joint petition seeking relief and parity with other students. The petition filed by these students has requested the apex court to direct the board to cancel compartmental exams and exams for private candidates in physical mode. The petition also seeks directions from the court to the board to assess their performance evaluation by adopting a formula in line with the assessment formula adopted by CBSE for the regular students and to release the results in a time-bound manner.
The petition also requests the court to direct CBSE to allow Class 10 and 12 private/compartment students to file their objections within a reasonable period of time, in case they are not satisfied with the results so published. The petitioners also sought a direction to the CBSE to resolve the grievances/objections that would be raised, giving them fair and equal treatment with that of regular students, the petition said.
SC Hearing Expected Today
The petition has been filed by advocate Abhishek Choudhary, and Manju Jaitley, seeking intervention and direction in the writ petition filed earlier before the top court for cancellation of CBSE/ICSE Board Examinations. The petition is likely to be heard by the apex court on 21st June 2021 – Monday.
