The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which is the apex board that looks after the development and propagation of secondary and higher secondary education in India, has approved inclusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an optional sixth subject for class 9 students from the upcoming academic session 2019–20. Along with AI, CBSE has also introduced Early Childhood Care Education and Yoga as new subjects. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a notification regarding three-day training programme on ‘Artificial Intelligence’ for the schools who are offering Artificial Intelligence (AI) course to students from session 2019-20 onwards. CBSE also requested schools to depute their IT teacher to attend this training programme according to the schedule released for different cities. It can be also noted that CBSE will not provide any TA/DA or stay facility. Teaching who are going to participate in this program will have to reach the venue by their own. Here are the details:

Other Important Details related to Training Programme for Teachers (TOT):
- Training Fee is Rs. 3,000/- per teacher (i.e., 1000/- per day).
- Fee should be deposited at the venue in the form of a Demand Draft in favour of Secretary, CBSE payable at Delhi.
- The participants should bring their laptops along for hands-on activities.

According to CBSE, class 9 students can opt for AI as a sixth optional subject. CBSE Schools can also start a module on AI learning for class 8 students. Early Childhood Care Education & Yoga will be introduced at Senior Secondary Level from the academic session 2019-20.
