According to recent reports, the Delhi government has decided to increase the salary of the guest teachers. The decision was made after receiving requests from a delegation of Dilli Atithi Shikshak Sangh. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has stated that the government has started the process to increase the salary of the guest lecturers and the Directorate of Education has been directed to increase the remuneration of the guest and contract teachers working in the government schools in Delhi.
Delhi Deputy CM on social media stated that some of the guest teachers met with the minister to share their experience about the government and requested an increase in the salary. He further added that the government is happy to announce that the process to increase the salary of the Guest Teachers has already commenced.
Request put in by teachers
The Office of Delhi Deputy CM also released a notification stating that the request of the guest teachers as mentioned in their representation is regarding a revision of their remuneration and the government also agrees with the arguments put forth which increased cost of living, economic hardships in families due to the pandemic for the increase in the salary. It has thus been directed that the Directorate of Education should increase the remuneration of the Guest and contract teachers.
He further added that the department needs to work out the details of the same and submit a proposal to increase the remuneration of all the Guest and Contract teachers in government schools in Delhi which will enable them to live a dignified life and continue to provide their services with sincerity.
