Durga Ashtami and Ram Navami Holidays: Schools To Remain Closed in These States on April 16th and 17th

School Holidays 2024: Educational institutions in various states across India shall remain closed to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Durga Ashtami and Ram Navami. The state governments of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, and Delhi have declared school holidays on April 17, 2024. 

The decision has been taken to allow students, teachers, and staff to participate in the religious festivities with their families. Meanwhile, the Haryana government has directed all schools to open with a delay of two hours on April 16, 2024. The changed timing applies to both students and teachers.

State-wise List of School Closures

Students, teachers, and staff can check out the state-wise list of school closures to observe the festivals of Durga Ashtami and Ram Navami. 

• Uttar Pradesh: The state government has declared a holiday on April 17, 2024, to honour the religious significance of the festival of Ram Navami.
• Bihar: The government has announced a special closure for Ram Navami to ensure that students and teachers participate in the religious festivities on April 17, 2024.
• Delhi: The Directorate of Education (DoE), Delhi has included the holiday of Ram Navami in the recent academic calendar released for students and teachers.
• Haryana: The Directorate of School Education (DoSE) has issued a letter to all district education officers and district elementary education officers stating the change in school timings on the occasion of Durga Ashtami. All schools in Haryana are directed to open with a two-hour delay on April 16, 2024, to allow students, teachers, and staff to celebrate the festival.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Schools in UP Closed on April 19

The first phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 is set to begin on April 19, 2024. As part of the election process, schools in certain places in Uttar Pradesh will remain closed on April 19, 2024. The voting process will be held in Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina, Moradabad, Rampur and Pilibhit regions.
