First online NISHTHA Programme launched by HRD Minister for 1200 key resource persons

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has launched the first online National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) programme.

Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has launched the first online National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) programme. The programme was launched by the HRD Minister in a virtual format for 1,200 key resource persons of Andhra Pradesh. State HRD Minister Sanjay Dhotre was also present at the launch of the NISHTHA Programme. 

The HRD Minister while speaking about the launch of the NISHTHA programme said that the programme is organised at the elementary stage under Samagra Shiksha - a centrally sponsored flagship programme of the Union HRD Ministry to improve the learning outcomes. 

The NISHTHA programme was launched on August 21, 2019, in the face to face mode following which 33 states and union territories launched the programme in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha. 

He also added that Andhra Pradesh is the first state for which the government is launching the online NISHTHA programme for 1200 key resource persons through the postal. These resource persons will help in the mentoring of the teachers of the state who will then take the online NISHTHA  training on DIKSHA. 

In 29 states/ union territories the NCERT completed the NISHTHA training programme at the state level while four states/ Union Territories including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jammu, and Kashmir, and Bihar the training at the state level is still in progress. The programme is yet to be launched in two states while a district-level teacher training programme has also been initiated in 23 states and Union Territories. 

At the launch, the Minister also pointed out that close to 23,000 key resource persons and 17.5 lakh teachers and school heads have been covered under the NISHTHA face to face mode until now.

The Union HRD Minister also added that the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown has affected the conduct of the programme which is why in order to provide training to the remaining 24 lakh teachers and school heads the NCERT has customized NISHTHA or the online mode through DIKSHA and NISHTHA  portals. 

Training Modules

The modules for the training programme have been developed under NISHTHA to focus on the holistic development of children and include the curriculum and education heals and well being along with personal social qualities, art integrated learning, initiatives in school education, subject-specific pedagogies, ICT in teaching-learning, leadership, pre-school education, and pre-vocational education, all these modules are created around the learning outcomes and learner-centered pedagogy. 

The modules have been made interactive with reflective and engaging activities for teachers providing space to educational games and quiz for joyful learning. This will, in turn, motivate teachers to implement this in their classrooms for encouraging student learning outcomes.
