IIT Bombay tops QS World Graduate Employability Rankings among Indian Institutions

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay tops the OS World Graduate Employability Ranking among Indian Institutions followed by IIT Delhi and IIT Madras. Read details here.

IIT Bombay has taken the first position by jumping up 30 spots from last year in the 2020 edition of the London based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World Graduate Employability Rankings. This makes IIT Bombay top the list of the top 24 percent of educational institutions in the world. The institution score range this year was 111-120 compared to last year’s score range of 141-150. The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World Graduate Employability Rankings provide key information on the success rate of students at securing jobs after completing their graduation from these institutions.

This year's rankings saw 758 institutions ranked by the agency worldwide. The other institutions which were ranked by the agency include IIT Delhi within the score range of 191-200, IIT Madras within the score range of 171-180, IIT Kharagpur within the score range of 201-250 and Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani within the score range of 251-300. Apart from this the University of Mumbai was ranked in the score range of 251-300.

The director of IIT Bombay – Dr. Subhasis Chaudhuri while addressing the media said that over the years due to the efforts of the faculty members and the ambience that the institution provided the students it was possible for IIT Bombay to impress the global employers. And this is reflected in the high scores secured by the institution in the QS Ranking. He also said that the institution will continue to put in the efforts to improve in the future and in order to achieve this he also requested the industrialists and philanthropists to come forward and help the institution in improving the research and campus infrastructure even further.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Ravindra Kulkarni speaking on the achievement of the university in the rankings said that the success is dedicated to the alumni of the university. He also added that since this is an independent survey which interviews employees across the world the university have scored high in alumni outcomes. He said that he is proud to say that the university is ranked among the top 60 percent institutions in the OS world University Graduate Employability ranking
