Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas will be reopening schools for Class 10 and 12 students in the states which have allowed offline classes. The schools will be reopening following the COVID-19 protocols issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The students are required to get the consent of the parents to attend the schools. The decision has been taken by JNV to avoid any further loss of studies.
According to reports, every JNV has prepared its own set of Standard Operating procedures based on the government guidelines and the students will be called in-phase while few of the students will be asked to take the online classes in order to maintain social distancing inside classrooms.
Arrangements have also been made to open hostels for the outstation students while the schools have also been directed to form a team to manage any virus outbreak inside the schools.
JNV schools to reopen for remaining students based on COVID situation
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas will be reopening for the remaining students in some time depending on the COVID-19 situation and the arrangements made by each school. The schools had been closed for the summer vacations in March 2020 during the lockdown across the country. The term examinations were already conducted by the schools.
Training provided to teachers
The online classes for the students commenced on June 15, 2020, and the schools have been providing training to their teachers on the development of e-content and management of online classes and online assessment. The school has replaced its monthly exams with periodic online assignments and the students who do not have access to mobile phones or laptops were also provided with textbooks, papers, written assignments and question banks.
