Colleges in Haryana: The authorities of Haryana Colleges has decided to include the National Cadet Corps (NCC) as a General Elective Credit Course for the graduate programmes. This decision has been taken in response to the proposal from the Directorate General, National Cadet Corps, New Delhi. This step is in line with the National Education Policy 2020. An official from NCC conveyed that the proposed implementation of NCC as an elective subject has got a positive response from the Haryana state government. This will help the youth of the nation to contribute immensely towards nation-building.
The NCC syllabus for Haryana Colleges is being outlined as per the credit-based system of National Education Policy 2020. The course is spread out through six semesters with 24 credit points. Students have to secure four credits in the first two semesters and 10 credits for the third fourth and fifth-sixth semesters respectively. On successful completion of NCC as an elective subject, students will be awarded credit points which will enable them to qualify for their degrees.

As per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students can choose subjects as per their choice rather than being confined by only those being offered by the institutes. In this regard, UGC has already issued an order to all the Vice-Chancellor of all universities to include NCC as an elective subject.
