The National Council for Teacher Education is a legal entity set up in accordance with the National Council for Teacher Education Act of 1993 (Act No. 73 of 1993), which was enacted on August 17, 1995. Its primary objective is to facilitate the planned and coordinated growth of the teacher education system across the country.
Apart from that, it also aims to ensure the regulation and proper upkeep of norms and standards within the teacher education system and to address issues related to it.
On the 61st meeting held on 5th August 2024, the General Body of the Council decided that the Performance Appraisal Report(s) (PARs) for the Academic Session(s) 2021-22 & 2022-23 must be submitted year-wise by all the existing Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) on the NCTE portal.
The move was made to determine whether the recognised institutions are operating in accordance with the provisions of the NCTE Act 1993, as well as the norms, standards, and guidelines established by the Council. These directives are crucial to ensuring accountability on the part of the recognized institutions.
Following the council’s decision, NCTE has released a public notice dated 09.09.2024 readily available on the NCTE website: ncte.gov.in for the recognised teacher education institutions to submit PAR for the academic session 2021-22 & 2022-23. The official link will redirect them to a new page where they can submit PAR by November 10, 2024, up to 11:59 PM.
