NEET PG 2021 Counselling: According to media reports, the NEET PG 2021 counselling procedure has been put on hold due to an ongoing matter at the Supreme Court. According to the updates received, the counselling is expected to start only after November 16, 2021, since the Supreme Court had adjourned the hearing for the EWS, OBC reservations in the All India Quota.
As per the reports, the NEET PG 2021 Counselling will begin only after the SC gives its final verdict on the matter of the EWS, OBC reservations for the All India Quota and a solution for the same is not brought out. The centre has however given its assurance to the Supreme Court that until the next hearing is done it will not begin the counselling process for the NEET PG students.
The matter regarding the NEET PG Counselling is being heard by a bench of justice DY Chandrachud, Vikram Nath and BV Nagarathna. The decision to adjourn the hearing to a later date was made after a request was made by the Solicitor General of India - Tushar Mehta.
Centre questioned on income limit
As per the latest update, the Supreme Court has also questioned the centre on the reason for adopting the same income criteria for determining the eligibility of the EWS and BC category students.
The Centre recently submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court in response to the same and mentioned that the same income criteria of Rs. 8 Lakh was justified to determine the eligibility of both the category students and was finalised after conducting discussions.
The NEET PG 2021 Counselling was earlier scheduled to begin from October 25, 2021, for the 50 percent AIQ students and as the EWS, OBC reservations in AIQ was facing a problem it was later decided that the counselling be put on hold.
