Puducherry School Reopening: As per the latest update, Schools in Puducherry will reopen for class 1 to 8 students starting from 6th December – Monday. The decision to reopen primary schools for offline classes was announced by Puducherry Education Minister A Namassivayam on Friday in a press conference. Schools in the Union Territory of Puducherry, especially for primary school students have remained closed for nearly two years now due to COVID-19 pandemic. However, now with the COVID Case numbers falling, the UT administration has decided to reopen primary schools from Monday onwards.
Half-day Classes for Students
As per a statement issued by Puducherry Director of School Education Rudra Goud to PTI news agency, initially, the UT government has decided to only allow offline classes for half-day for the primary school students. Moreover to ensure staggered class hours and crowd management on campus, Class 1 to 8 students would be called in for offline classes on alternate days only. To ensure complete safety of students and staff members, the administration has directed school administrators to ensure complete compliance with COVID-19 guidelines and precautionary measures.
In line with the directs given by the UT Administration, the offline classes for students of 1, 3, 5 and 7 Standards will be held on Monday Wednesdays and Fridays; whereas offline classes for students of 2, 4, 6 and 8 standards would be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For now, the UT Administration has also decided not to resume the mid-day meal programme for students. A decision in this regards is expected soon from the Puducherry Government.
