    IIFT 2019 Placement Report: The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade / IIFT has concluded its final Placements for the graduating batch 2017-19 of its flagship MBA (International Business) Programme. Keeping up the trends of the last few years, the B-schools has maintained its 100% placement record for 2019 as well.

    This year, IIFT had organized Placement Sessions for 279 students. But despite the large batch size, the institute was able to secure 100% placements as well as ensure notable growth the placement statistics starting from Highest Salary Offered, Average Salary for the batch and even number of PPOs and international offers.

    First B-school to Complete Final Placements 2019

    The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade became the first B-school to Conclude Final Placement,  even before the declaration of the IIFT 2018 Entrance Exam Result this year. Until last year, the final placements at IIFT used to conclude in the month of February – March. This is the first time that the institute has completed the placement season in December itself.

    Commenting upon the successful completion of the Placement Season 2019 at IIFT, the Institute Director Prof. Manoj Pant noted that “The quality of our students, the academic rigour and the premium we place on cultivating relationships with our recruiters are the reasons behind this continued success.”

    IIFT 2019 – Placement Highlights

    IIFT 2019 Placements turned out to be very lucrative affair for the outgoing batch, as the institute not only secured 100% placements but also registered growth in the overall placement statistics. The key highlights of the IIFT 2019 Placements are listed below:

    • Number of Participating Students: 279
    • Number of Participating Recruiters: 98
    • Number of First-time Participating Recruiters: 32
    • Average Salary for the batch: 20.07 lakhs per annum
    • Average Salary for the batch in 2018: 19.23 lakhs per annum
    • Highest Salary Offered: Rs 1 Crore
    • Number of PPOs offered: 93

    In addition to these, another highlight was that many students received offers of Rs.75 Lakhs Per Annum. The number of international offers made to the students also increased this year.

    IIFT 2019 Placements – Key Trends

    As denoted in the table given above, the Average Salary, both overall and for domestic offers, saw significant rise from 2018 to 2019. Similarly, the highest salary package offered also rose to Rs 1 Crore + this year. Similarly, the median salary offered also rose from Rs 17 LPA to Rs 18 LPA this year.

    Students Grab 93 PPOs

    Another interesting highlight of the placements at IIFT for 2019 was the number of PPOs / Pre-Placement Offers that were extended to the students. For 2019, a total of 93 PPOs were extended to the students by recruiters. PPOs being offered before the placement season highlights the trust that recruiters have on the education that is being imparted by the B-school.

    The PPOs were extended by major recruiters which included the likes of ABFRL, OfBusiness, Tata Steel, HP, Godrej, KPMG, Yes Bank, Amazon, Piramal, Royal Enfield, Infoedge, Wipro Technologies, Tata Metalliks, Citibank, ICICI, PPG Asian Paints, JPMC, Synergy Consulting, ITC, Bain Capability Network, HT Media, IVP, Britannia, Maersk Line, Marico, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, GEP, Bajaj Auto, GE, Shell, Louis Dreyfus, RPG, Goldman Sachs and Airtel.

    New Recruiters

    This placement season at IIFT saw 32 first-time recruiters. These included Rivigo, Bata, Roland Berger, Lenskart, United Health Group, Go-MMT, Paytm, Aegis Resources, Tata Global Beverages, Axtria, HomeCredit, DE Shaw Group, Field Fresh Foods, Fermenta Biotech, Enhance Group, Epik InDiFi, Samunnati Finance, Polycab, Export Trading Group, Tresvista Financial Services and Zomato. This year, GE Healthcare also opened its coveted Commercial Leadership Program for IIFT Placements.

    IIFT 2019 Placement Analysis: Sector-wise Top Recruiters

    Despite being a B-school that is primarily renowned for its International Business Programme, the B-school saw offers being extended to the students from different sectors and domains. The top recruiters for different sectors are listed below:

    Trade & International Business Sector

     As expected, IIFT saw many offers being extended to the students in the Trade and International Business Sector. The top recruiters in this sector included African Industries Group, ADM, Aegis Resources, Export Trading Group, Olam International, Tolaram, Trafigura,  participating in the recruitment process and offering positions across Africa, Middle East and South-East Asia.

    Operations & Logistics

    Operations and logistics saw an increase in intake with companies like Amazon, Maersk Line, Freight Tiger, Rivigo making offers.

    Sales & Marketing

    For Sales and Marketing, the institute had a varied mix of recruiters like ABFRL, Airtel, Bajaj Auto, Bata, Dell, Enhance Group, Field Fresh Foods, GAIL, Games 24*7, GE, HP, HT Media, Infoedge, Jain Irrigation, Lenskart, Mother Dairy, OYO, Polycab, Raymond, Rivigo, Swiggy, Tata Sky, Tetrapak, TGBL, Value Labs, Zomato.

    Consulting Sector

    The Consulting Domain also saw significant rise in the number of offers being extended to the students. Roland Berger – the top tier Consulting Firm participated in the IIFT 2019 Placements for the first time and also made multiple offers for different roles. Other recruiters in this sector included Bain Capability Centre, Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte, Infosys Management Consulting, i3 Consulting and KPMG.

    IT

    Axtria, Capgemini, Hexaware, IBM, Genpact, Google, Info Edge, Value Labs, Wipro Technologies, etc, offered roles in the IT domain. Several companies such as Go-MMT, EXL Services, OYO, Paytm, United Health Group, etc. offered coveted roles such as product manager, revenue manager, analytics manager.

    General Management & Strategy

    Top recruiters which made offers in this role included Airtel, Murugappa Group and Fermenta Biotech.

    Finance

    Finance was another sector that attracted several offers for the students. The top recruiters in Finance sector included Citi Bank, CRISIL, DE Shaw Group, Epik InDiFi, HomeCredit, HSBC, ICICI Bank, Indus Valley Partners, JPMC, L&T, Rivigo, Samunnati Finance, Syngenta AG, Tata Motors, Tresvista Financial Services and Yes Bank offered roles across Financial Operations, Investment Banking, Credit Risk Analysis, Corporate Finance, FinTech.
