Lakhpati Didi Scheme UPSC: A member of a Self-Help Group (SHG) who has earned more than Rupees One Lakh (Rs. 1,00,000) annually and has maintained an average monthly income of Rupees Ten Thousand (Rs. 10,000) or more for at least four business cycles and/or agricultural seasons is known as a Lakhpati Didi.

The objective of the government is to establish two crore "lakhpati didis" (wealthy sisters) in rural areas. The larger objectives of reducing poverty and promoting economic empowerment are in line with this plan. Women will receive vocational training under this programme, enabling them to make over Rs 1 lakh annually.
What is Lakhpati Didi Scheme?
The Lakhpiti Didi project aims to empower households to engage in a variety of revenue-generating activities. The livelihood planning will be facilitated by trained community resource persons who will use a tool and submit the completed document to a digital platform for additional consolidation and resource connections.
The SHG members and associations will receive timely and sufficient help to improve their livelihoods. This might take the form of marketing (branding, packaging, e-commerce, etc.), assets (input, equipment, and infrastructure), skills (knowledge and practical skills), and access to finance (bank linkage, leveraging departmental schemes, corporate social responsibility, etc.).
Convergence across multiple programmes (inter- and intra-departmental) will be implemented to gather financial, technical, and SHG federation capacity building resources. Here is how the convergence is scheduled:

What are the Features of Lakhpati Didi Scheme?
An implementation plan for enabling Lakhpati Didis has been prepared that includes the following:
- Identification of Potential Lakhpati Didis
- Creating a pool of Master trainers and Community Resource Persons
- Cascading Training and Capacity building of various stakeholders, such as SHGs and its federations, Community Resource Persons, Master Trainers, and the Staff/experts supporting this initiative
- Training, Capacity Building and exposure visits of potential Lakhpati Didis on various Livelihood Models and making accessible relevant resource documents for self-learning
- Preparation of Lakhpati Plan of the identified households using a digital tool, consolidation of the plans and development of product and/ or service clusters, value chain interventions, establishing linkages with various stakeholders, schemes of government, private sectors partnerships, etc.
- Mapping of Community Resource Persons with Identified Didis for Handholding Support and Linkages.
- Aajeevika Register for reporting livelihood activities and income on a periodic basis (six monthly linked to agriculture season and/ or on completion of business cycles).
