With a budget of Rs 3,600 crore over seven years, this initiative is designed to support over 22 lakh students each year. SATHEE App
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has launched a free program called SATHEE to assist students in the preparation of competitive exams like JEE, NEET, and SSC. This initiative aims to offer comprehensive assistance to all students, with a special emphasis on those in rural and remote areas. This initiative offers a variety of valuable resources, such as high-quality study materials, expert guidance from experienced educators, and effective tools for self-assessment.
PM SHRI Schools
The government is all set to start a program termed “PM SHRI Schools” to bring significant improvement in education in India. This initiative is based on the National Education Policy 2020. The objective is to build 14,500 excellent schools that will be focused on teaching students in a way that is well-rounded and inclusive. These schools will be equipped with the latest technology, modern facilities and the usage of new teaching methods to help students learn better.
Prerana: An Experiential Learning Program
The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India has introduced 'Prerana: An Experiential Learning Programme' to provide a unique and inspiring experience to the students and help them grow as leaders. It's a week-long residential program for selected students in grades 9 to 12. A batch of 20 selected students (10 boys and 10 girls) will get the chance to attend the programme every week from different parts of the country. This program aims to inspire students and teach them about India's diversity, and help them develop the skills they need to become strong leaders.
One Nation, One Subscription Scheme
The One Nation, One Subscription (ONOS) scheme represents a crucial step forward in bringing significant changes in the access to knowledge in India. With a budget of Rs 6,000 crore over three years, this scheme offers students, researchers, and faculty members affordable access to a comprehensive set of e-books, academic journals, and research databases. By reducing these financial constraints, ONOS aims to build a research-oriented environment and enhance the quality of higher education.
Interest Subvention on Education Loans
To make college more affordable, the government launched an interest subvention scheme that will help students with loans. It implies that the students can secure education loans up to Rs 10 lakh for Indian colleges with a 3% interest subsidy offered through e-vouchers.
