The Asian Games are also known as "Asiad". This is the biggest sporting event in Asia. The Asian Games, which symbolizes the mutual equality and unity of Asian countries, is a multinational sport event organized at the gap of every 4 years by members of the Asian Games Federation. Only Asian players can participate in this event.
The first Asian Games were organized in 1951 in New Delhi, India. Our country hosted these games in 1982 again.
Asian Games are organized by the Asian Olympic Council in the supervision of the International Olympic Council.
About 18th Asian Games
The 18th Asian Games kicked off in the Jakarta and Palembang cities of the Indonesia on 18th August 2018.
However, the Indonesian city Jakarta has already organised these games in 1962 earlier. There are 8 new games have been added in the 18th edition of Asian Games, so the total number of games became 40. In the 18th Asiad 10 thousand players from the 45 countries will participate.
The motto of the 18th Asian games is "Energy of Asia".

This time three new mascots were introduced—-Bhin Bhin—a greater bird-of-paradise, Atung—a Bawean deer, and Kaka—a Javan rhinoceros, representing the Eastern, Central and Western regions of Indonesia.

Indian Performance in the Asian Games
Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has finalised the list of 571 athletes for the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang in Indonesia.
The flag bearer of this event from indian side will be Javelin Thrower "Neeraj Chopra".
In the 17th Asian Games held in Incheon (South Korea), India won a total of 57 medals including 11 gold, 10 silver and 36 bronze medals and India had secured 8th place in the medal table.
While the Asian games-2010 held in the China's Guangzhou, India did its best performance and won total 65 medals, out of which 14 were gold, 17 silver and 34 bronze medals and secured the 6th place in the medal table.
Asian Games is dominated by China and its players won upto 151 gold medals, while India is still struggling to won 20 gold medals. This is a cause of concern for the whole country. Now its time for Indian sports association do make a sports friendly environment in the country so that the trend of pathetic performance of India can be checked immediately.
