Firearms technology. Yes it is one of its kind of technology that saw a marvelous dawn in the 19th century. Humans initiated their weapon history with spades made of wood and have reached to something like bio weapons. Take a look at the seven deadliest weapons in the history here:
List of Deadliest weapons in history:
Maxim’s Machine Gun:
Machine tools saw their greatest times in the 19th century. Misfires were controlled with the introduction of guns, the percussion cap and cartridge ammunition.
Smokeless powder's potential was realized by gunsmiths soon enough. This resulted in Hiram Maxim's Maxim Gun that incorporated all the techniques of the 19th century.
Nuclear Weapons:
This is the likeliest of all times to cause irreversible damage. In other words this weapon should not have existed. Nuclear weapons whenever used in its existence's history have resulted in a catastrophe.
The atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan and killed 70,000 people. After that radiation sickness took its toll in that place and killed many more after the bomb attack.
Little Boy dropped on Hiroshima showed the world the result of a nuclear bomb on humanity. It was 15 kilotons of TNT. The Russian RS-28 Sarmat ICBM was designed to deliver a payload 2000 times stronger than the Little Boy.
Shock Cavalry:
This military device altered the European Society's status more than any other. The mounted knight was the accumulation of technological innovation for more than 100 years. The war saddle was introduced by the 6th Century and the iron stirrup was used commonly by 7th century. The curb bit, necessary for controlling a warhorse, dates from the same time. Iron horseshoes date from the end of 9th century and spurs from 11th century. Then Swiss men adopted pikes and the introduction of the Welsh longbow shifted many paradigms.
Greek Fire:
There is mention of Greek fire in many war histories. It was considered to be one of the deadliest weapons of the Byzantine Greeks. It was first conceptualised by Stand-Up legend George Carlin. He called it the flame thrower. A modern version of Greek fire was seen in World War II in the form of Napalm. Incendiary bombs also contained napalm and they were used in Allied Bombing of Dresden and also in the firebombing of Tokyo.
Rifle:
All shoulder fired infantry weapons were muzzle loaded smoothbore muskets till the 19th century. These could propel almost 19mm rounds to 200 yards, that too with accuracy. Do you know why the early attempts at rifling were a failure? This was because the lead ball ammunition had to be forcibly rammed into the rifled bore.
Rifle however was more accurate than any other smooth bore weapon because the spiral gloves imparted a smooth spin on the projectile.
The issue was resolved when French army officer Claude-Étienne Minié designed a conical bullet. Due to this invention the range of firing suddenly increased without reducing the loading time. This bullet caused many lives to be lost during the American Civil War. The assault rifle developed at the time of World War II transformed the infantry combat as volume of the fire and rapid maneuver by small units eclipse. Development in this sector led to invention of the most defining rifles of the 20th century- AK-47.
Submarines and Planes / helicopters:
Submarines have been way more lethal to the crews than they are to the intended targets. They used to suffer great damages at the time of torpedo launches. The submarines rose while the World War I was on. Many navy's till then had employed submarines but the German U boats did not let them all stand a chance. These boats sank more than 10 million tons of Allied shipping, and Germany’s practice of unrestricted submarine warfare. Now the submarines are built with anti-ship capacity and also with ballistic missiles on them.
Mi-26 is a Russian Helicopter and the world's largest helicopter as well that is currently in production. It has a lift capability that is comparable to the US C130 cargo plane and a twin turbine eight rotor engine. It can also carry cargoes up to 20 tonnes. It also requires a 3000 feet runway to get airborne at maximum weight, The Mi 26 can also carry payloads while taking off vertically.
Biological Weapons:
Biological weapons are much more dangerous than normal nuclear weapons. It means intentionally introducing infectious agents to the battlefields which can take human lives without a sound and at a much faster rate. The bacteria and viruses however do not discriminate on the basis of uniforms or allegiance or anything else. It began in 1346 with Genoese defenders at Kaffa withstood a Mongol siege that lasted for more than 1 year.
