The Telangana state cabinet has decided to introduce the English medium in all Government schools in the state from the 2022-23 academic year. The cabinet has also decided to regulate the fee in private schools, junior and degree colleges. The decision was taken in a meeting conducted by the officials on Monday.
Subcommittee formed to prepare guidelines
The Telangana state cabinet has also constituted a subcommittee of ministers headed by Education Minister Sabita Indra Reddy to study and prepare guidelines on the issues faced. In the meeting, the cabinet also gave its nod to the ‘Mana Vooru Mana Badi’ (Our Village Our School) scheme launched at Rs. 7,289 Crore for better infrastructure facilities and quality of education in the government schools.
The official notification regarding the same states that the state cabinet felt that the parents in rural areas are ready to send their children to the government schools if the medium of instruction is in English. Taking this into consideration, the cabinet has decided to have English as a medium of instruction in the government schools and also develop infrastructure accordingly.
Training to be provided to teachers
The government has also decided to create an action plan to train teachers to impart education in English to students at the primary level, make the environment in the schools attractive for the children, help the premises clean and tidy and also improve the mid-day meal programme.
