ICSE 9th and 11th Class Results 2020: The Supreme Court of India issued notice to the CISCE Board today, asking it to consider the option of reassessment for students who have failed in Class 9 and Class 11 for this year. The apex court has asked the ICSE Board to provide an alternative similar to the one offered by CBSE Board to provide a second chance to the students to clear their exams in the light of COVID-19 pandemic. The reassessment option will help those students who have failed in the CISCE Class 9 and Class 11 Exams held earlier this year and didn’t manage to clear them. The court has asked the CISCE Board to provide the reassessment option to them as a second chance to clear the exam instead of waiting for a complete year.
Order Passed Based on Petition Filed by Class 9 Student
As per media reports, the apex court issued notice to the CISCE Board asking them to adopt the reassessment policy similar to CBSE Board after hearing a plea filed by a minor before them. Reports indicate that a Class 9 student had approached the apex court seeking relief in the form of a plea through Advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava. In the petition, the student had sought directions from the court to the ICSE Board to adopt CBSE’s reassessment option as not doing so would violate the right to equality as guaranteed under Article 14 of the Constitution and deprive students of the opportunity to clear the exam.
After hearing the arguments put forth by the petitioner, the order directing CISCE Board to consider adopting reassessment policy was passed by a bench of justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari, and Sanjiv Khanna today.
