IGNOU MA Programme: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched Masters in Urdu programme under the School of Humanities. The Master's programme has been launched through Open Distance Learning mode. The admission procedure has begun for this newly launched course on the official website of the university - ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The programme will be offered in January and July sessions.
Currently, applications are being invited for admission to July 2021 session. While applying for admission, candidates are required to enter their personal and academic details in the required fields. They must make sure that all the details provided in the application form are correct.

IGNOU MA in Urdu Programme Details
The MA programme has a wide range of Urdu Language and Literature. The duration of the program is two years. It will be taught in Urdu. The Urdu program exposes learners to a wide range of Urdu Language and Literature. It would be helpful for students in developing a sound understanding of Urdu Literature and also other literature as Arabic, Persian, English, Hindi and other New Literature.
Interested candidates have to pay Rs.12600 for the full program. In the First year, students will have to pay Rs.6300 and a registration fee of Rs.200 whereas in the Second year, Rs.6300 have to be paid. In the first year, students will be taught History of Urdu Language and Literature, Urdu Ghazal, Urdu Fiction, and Urdu Non-fiction. In the second year, there will be chapters on Urdu Nazm, Classical Urdu Poetry, Criticism and Research, and a special study of Meer Taqi Meer and Mirza Ghalib.
Other new programmes at IGNOU
IGNOU has also introduced a new postgraduate diploma programme in Development Communication (PGDDC) from July 2021 session. The new academic programme developed by the School of Journalism and New Media Studies was launched by Professor Nageshwar Rao, Vice-Chancellor IGNOU, on 25th June. IGNOU School of Humanities is also offering MA in Jyotish programme through open distance learning (ODL) mode.
