Vinod Gupta School of Management at IIT Kharagpur has signed an MoU with Singapore Management University for SMU-IITKGP Inclusive and Immersive Experiential Learning (I2XL) Programme. the programme is aimed to provide managerial education and business school experience which will encourage the students to apply the classroom concepts into a global business environment. The MoU will include student projects and immersion programmes along with a reciprocal exchange of research and teaching staff research and other collaborations.

The programme is focused on enriching the students with managerial concepts with the help of classroom lectures on portfolio management, alternative investments, innovation and entrepreneurship, and technological adaptation.

Apart from this the programme also features industry interactions regarding practical challenges in financial markets. The programmes are designed with a two-fold objective of exposing students to the dynamics of functioning on an international platform and also complement classroom learning with a global business perspective.

25 students were selected on the basis of their prior work experience in the different sectors from MBA and Executive MBA to participate in this collaboration. Academicians from Singapore Management University and industry leaders have offered their experiential learning experience at the first edition of the programme. Another aspect of the programme was the live industry projects which were undertaken by the students under the patronage of the corporate giants like DBS Bank, Citibank, GSK and industry veterans like Lendingkart and BondEValue.

In the first edition of the programme the students were allowed to show their business awareness through a live simulation exercise of Portfolio Management which was considered to be both engaging and challenging. The field trip included a visit to the Singapore Stock Exchange focusing on the global economy and technological adaptation in an exchange. The students also worked on challenging business problems that require leading-edge-technological solutions which are based on a strong understanding of the fundamental business concepts.

Dean, Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur, Prof Prabina Rajib, while speaking about the programme said that the institution is proud to include the ‘International Immersion Programme’ into its curriculum and the emphasis of the programme on the theoretical and practical learning with the international exposure makes the programme a priceless experience. She also added that the institution is also planning to increase the number of participants in the coming years and extend the opportunity to all the students making this a yearly event. She also stated that the institution is confident that the collaboration between both institutions will help in promoting excellence in managerial education on a global level.
