Jawaharlal Nehru University: On Wednesday, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) said that it is planning to set up a COVID health centre on campus, For that the administration has sought financial support from its alumni. Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar asked JNU alumni to donate at least a day’s salary or larger amounts to upgrade the health centre on campus to a Covid health centre. Noting that the university and its residents have been adversely affected by the pandemic, Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar said the alumni should be a part of JNU's endeavours to provide safety and security to all stakeholders, particularly the students.
Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar Written Appeal
The Vice-Chancellor said that JNU appeals to the alumni to contribute to the “JNU Alumni Endowment Fund” and help their alma mater to achieve its objective to provide good healthcare to its students, staffers and faculty members during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a written appeal issued on Wednesday, JNU vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar said, “As scientists have warned that this pandemic is going to continue for some time, there is an urgent need to upgrade the health infrastructure of the campus. The JNU administration has recently constituted a Covid Response Team (CRT), which has been making all possible efforts to provide support to the affected residents and contain the spread of this pandemic on campus.”
Therefore, JNU plans to upgrade the current infrastructure of our health centre and develop a well-equipped Covid health centre, which requires a considerable amount of financial support. The Vice-Chancellor requested alumni to contribute at least a day’s salary. “Alumni are also welcome to donate oxygen concentrators. Donating masks, oximeters, sanitisers, and digital thermometers will help us equip our frontline workers."

Order From Delhi High Court
Earlier, the Delhi High Court had asked the university to start a COVID care centre with availability of oxygen after the JNUSU and JNUTA approached it saying that the administration had not responded to proposals sent by them to start a facility after several students, teachers fell ill and needed such facilities.
JNU Entrance Exams
The administration of the university said that it was in talks with the National Testing Agency to conduct the JNU Entrance Examination at the earliest. They said that the NTA had not given them a date for the examination as the situation across the country was not conducive to conduct a test that requires students to visit examination centres.
