Manipur Comic TextBooks: Manipur Education Department has launched India’s First Comic Form Text Books for Primary School Students as per media reports. Reports claim that, the Comic Text Books have been launched for students studying in Classes 1 to 5 and will be formally inducted as part of academic syllabus from next academic session.
Education Minister launches Comic Textbooks
As per the official update, the Comic Textbooks were formally launched by Manipur Education Minister Th Radheshyam in Imphal in a formal ceremony held on Monday – 21st October 2019. At the launch event, he said that Manipur was the first state in the country to experiment with the comic textbooks. Education Minister was joined by Commissioner (Education-Schools) T Ranjit and officials.
He also commended Manipur Education Department for implementing the novel idea of developing Comic Textbooks. He said that through the comic textbooks, the department aims to ‘encourage and ignite young minds’ and help youngsters maximize their learning capacities. Currently, the Manipur Education Department has launched comic form text books for Mathematics, Language and Environmental Studies subjects.
Comic Textbooks designed by Subject Matter Experts
While implementing the unique concept of comic textbooks, the Manipur Education Department has ensured that the textbooks deliver authentic information and aid in learning processes. Therefore, the department had roped in a large team of subject-matter experts who jointly designed and developed the Comic Texbooks. In addition to this, the Manipur Education Department will also reach out to other competent authorities including NCERT to review and suggest improvements to the comic textbooks.
Manipur tops among Smaller States in School Education Index
Manipur state was recently in news for topping the list of smaller states in the recently released NITI Aayog’s School Education Index Report. Manipur Government has implemented several other initiatives to make schools a student friendly and to remove phobia that exists among the students. As part of this initiative, the government also declared every working Saturday as No School Bag Day for students of Classes 1 to 8 “to make schools a more joyful place for learning.”.
