The Tamil Nadu State Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan informed that the admissions to the Government aided and private schools will be conducted only after the schools are reopened in the state. He has clarified that admissions will not be conducted amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The schools in the state have been shut since March 2020 when the nationwide lockdown was first imposed due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country.
The minister also added that some of the schools, mostly private schools have been instructed by the government not to release the marks of the Plus, two students, although some schools have already done the same. He has also clarified that strict action will be taken against those schools which do not adhere and conduct the admissions before the orders are issued by the state government.
The Tamil Nadu state government recently has turned to television as a mode of teaching and learning for the students given that the schools have been shut. The state has 14 channels through which the lesions for the students will be telecast. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister k Palaniswami launched the lessons for the class 10 and 12 students which is being telecast through Kalvi Tholaikatchi (Education TV Channel).
The state has seen a rising number f COVID-19 cases over the span of this month. Until now, Tamil Nadu has reported a total of 6,972 fresh COVID-19 positive cases within a day making the total number of cases in the state to 227,688. According to the numbers available 4,707 patients have been discharged which has taken the total number of patients cured to 165,956. The total number of COVID-19 deaths reported in the state is 3,659.
