With the Tamil Nadu state government gaining control of the recent COVID-19 clusters reported in schools, it is being reported that the offline classes are set to resume for the students soon. According to media reports, Tamil Nadu schools are likely to reopen for the students from classes 6 to 12 from January 3, 2022. It must however be noted that an official copy of the order is yet to be received on the reopening of the schools.
As per reports, the decision on reopening the schools has been taken after a COVID-19 review meeting was conducted with the Chief Minister in which the decision was taken after assessing the learning loss that students have been facing.
Although the guidelines to be followed for the offline classes are yet to be released it is expected that attendance will not be mandatory for the students as the age group which is starting school is yet to be made eligible for vaccination.
SOPS and Guidelines to be issued soon
Schools in Tamil Nadu will follow the COVID-19 safety protocols even if the students of classes 6 to 12 opt for a hybrid mode of learning. After the official confirmation is received it is likely that the state government will issue a new set of guidelines and SOPS for the reopening. Schools will be able to modify the SOPs as per their needs while ensuring that all the students and staff are safe.
New Cluster Cases
Many of the educational institutions across the country have reported COVID-19 cluster cases since the reopening. Schools and Colleges shortly after reopening were closed down in a few parts of Karnataka due to the new cluster cases.
The reopening of these educational institutions will be decided after a review is conducted by the state and the authorities.
