The University Grants Commission has released  the Exam guidelines and the academic Calendar for the 2021-22 for the current session students and the new admissions. Check the detailed academic calendar and guidelines here. 

UGC new academic calendar

The University Grants Commission has released the Exam guidelines and the Academic Calendar for 2021-22 for the current session students and the new admissions. According to the guidelines issued by the UGC, the universities are required to complete the Final Year/ Semester Examinations by August 31, 2021, while the admissions for the new session Undergraduate students will commence only after the release of the CBSE, ICSE, and state board class 12 Results as directed by the Supreme Court. The new academic session is to commence on October 1, 2021.

According to the circular released by the UGC, it is expected that the results of the state boards along with the CBSE and ICSE boards will be released by July 31, 2021, considering the SC mandate which was released earlier. Hence the admission process for the new Undergraduate students is tentatively expected to begin from August 1, 2021.

UGC Exam Guidelines - Official notification

Along with this, the universities have also been asked to complete the admission process for the undergraduate students by September 30, 2021, and begin the academic session by October 1, 2021. The last date given by the UGC for colleges to fill the vacant seats is October 31, 2021. The last date for students to submit the documents for the new admissions is December 31, 2021. In case of a delay in the Class 12 Results, the institutions may plan a new academic calendar from October 18, 2021.

No Cancellation Fees

The UGC has further added that considering the pandemic, the universities are not allowed to charge cancellation fees for the withdrawal of admissions until October 31, 2021 following which the universities can deduct a maximum of Rs. 1000 as processing fees if the students withdraw or cancel their admissions until December 31, 2021. 

The mode of teaching undertaken by the universities is left for them to be done as per the guidelines and protocols in the respective states. The teaching and learning will be continued in a blended mode, the UGC states.
