West Bengal Government setup Hindi university, Centre of excellence for Hindi Language

West Bengal to Get Hindi University: As per the latest announcement, West Bengal Government will setup a Hindi University in the state soon. The decision was announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the state assembly on 5th September 2019 – Thursday. As per the announcement, the new Hindi University will be setup in Howrah and will cater to the large number of Hindi-speaking people based in the state. On the same day, West Bengal Assembly also passed the Hindi University Bill that aims to provide higher education to the Hindi-speaking people.

Hindi University – Details Announced

As per the details announced, Hindi University will be setup as a state-aided varsity in Howrah district. The University will be named as Hindi University for now. In addition to the University, the government is also planning to launch Centre of Excellence which will be used to enrich Hindi language.

Mamata Announces Decision

WB Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the decision to setup Hindi University in the state. She also added that the new University will show us a new path and help us stand for unity and harmony. She also said that the final name for the University will be decided at a later stage after consulting different communities and stakeholders. She also gave clear instructions to the Education Department to commence construction work for the university as land required for it has already been allotted by the Government.

Focus on Hindi

Mamata also said that India has given recognition to many different languages, but due importance must also be accorded to Hindi. In line with that, West Bengal Government will be launching more Hindi-medium schools, colleges and universities in the state. The government’s decision for increased focus on Hindi comes in the wake off repeated requests from the people of the state.

West Bengal to Get Universities in Each District

Apart from Hindi University, CM Banerjee also revealed her Government’s plans for education sector. She said that in addition to the Hindi University, Government is planning to open new universities in all the districts of the state. She also added that a new University has been commissioned at Jhargram and will become operational soon. Apart from the 31 Universities in the state, West Bengal Government is also planning to open 50 new colleges and 7000+ schools.
