West Bengal Government to Introduce Class 5 in 2335 Primary Schools in 2025-26

The West Bengal State Government has decided to introduce class 5 in 2335 primary schools in the state from the 2025 academic year onwards. The decision has been made as per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.

West Bengal Primary Schools: The West Bengal state government will introduce class 5 in 2335 more primary schools from the next academic year onwards. As per media reports, the decision was taken as per the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act. According to details available, class 5 has already been introduced in 18000 primary schools in the state. 

The 2335 primary schools have been asked to take necessary steps with immediate effect so that class 5 can be introduced in schools from January 2025 itself. As per reports, class 5 will be introduced in 29000 state-run schools and state-aided primary schools. 

Earlier, classes 1 to 4 were taught in primary schools while class 5 was part of the secondary section.
