Eligibility Criteria for Recruitment in SAIL
Educational Qualification
- Operator-cum-Technician Trainee: Matriculation with three years full time Diploma in Engineering in one of the following disciplines (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Metallurgy/ Electronics/ Civil). Diploma should be from a Govt. Recognized Institute.
- Attendant-cum-Technician Trainee: Matriculation with ITI from recognized institution in any of the following trades: Fitter/ Electrician/ Welder/ Turner/ Mason/ Machinist/ Motor Vehicle Mechanic. For (HV Driver) Matric with HVD License with minimum 1 year experience of operating tipper in mines. Desirable: Successful completion of Apprenticeship training in a reputed Indian industry, preferably steel industry, after passing out from a recognized Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
Age Limit (Maximum 1 January 2012): Minimum 18 years; Maximum 28 years
Pay Scale
- Operator-cum-Technician Trainee: Rs 9160-3%-13150 (S-3)
- Attendant-cum-Technician Trainee: Rs 8630-3%-12080 (S-1)
Stipend
- Operator-cum-Technician Trainee: During the training period of two years, a consolidated stipend of Rs 8,250 per training period month will be paid during 1st year and Rs 9,350 per month during 2nd year. On successful completion of training period, they will be absorbed in regular grade.
- Attendant-cum-Technician Trainee: During the training period of two years a consolidated stipend of Rs 6,600 per training period month will be paid during 1st year and Rs 7,700 per month during 2nd year. On successful completion of training period, they will be absorbed in regular grade.
Selection Procedure for Recruitment in SAIL: Candidates will be selected on the basis of Written Test followed by an Interview and Medical Examination.

Application Fee: Application fee for General and OBC category candidate is Rs 250 for Operator-cum-Technician Trainee and Rs 150 for Attendant-cum-Technician Trainee. Fee for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates is Rs 50.
Application fees needs to be paid in the form of Payment Challan through any branch of State Bank of India. The fee has to be deposited in a specially opened Account No: "Power Jyoti"-31932241266 of SBI, Burnpur.
Candidates should then enter all the details in the form and submit online application. Candidates can take the print out of Registration Slip. Registered candidates will go to ‘log in' by entering e-mail ID and password, and can download their e-admit card.
Note: Candidates have to submit SAIL, IISCO Steel Plant's copy of Challan at the time of the written test. Else the candidates will not be allowed to appear for the written test.
