Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct an open examination for recruitment to the posts of Constable (General Duty) in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles as per the Recruitment Scheme formulated by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). This year SSC has announced total 58373 vacancies for Constable (GD) Post.

The recruitment process for SSC GD Constable 2018-19 Exam will consist of Computer Based Examination (CBE), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Physical Standard Test (PST) and Detailed Medical Examination (DME). Job Profile of GD Constable in CAPF Departments

Let’s have a look at the role and responsibilities allocated to the GD constables in CAPF Departments:

  • He/ she will be appointed as an in-charge of guard or escort at the time of deputation.
  • He/she will be liable to obey the duties handed over by the SHO to him. GD Constables come directly under the supervision of SHO. So, any other task or duties assigned by the SHO will have to be performed by the GD Constables.
  • GD Constables are responsible for the overall activities in absence of Assistant Sub-Inspector and Sub-inspectors.
  • He/she has authority to inquire and investigate any case, if Sub-Inspector asks him/her to do so.
  • Duties of Station Writer in rural and urban areas might also be a part of GD Constable’s role.
  • Apart from that, if you are promoted to Head Constable, then you will be mainly employed to be in charge of police stations.

Border Security Force (BSF)

BSF is largely employed for Internal Security Duties and other law and order duties on the requisition of the State Government. Being a Central Armed Police Force, it can be entrusted with policing duties at any place apart from its mandate. The major role performed by BSF:

  • To protect the Indo-Pakistan and Indo-Bangladesh Border.
  • To promotes the sense of security among the people living in the border areas.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF)

The major roles performed by CISF are:

Secretariat Security Force (SSF)
