SSC GD Constable 2018-19 Exam Notification
As per the latest official notification, the Staff Selection Commission will conduct an open examination for recruitment to the posts of Constable (General Duty) in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Rifleman (General Duty) in Assam Rifles as per the Recruitment Scheme formulated by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). SSC Constables (GD) in CAPFs 2018 Exam will be conducted from 11th February 2019 to 11th March 2019 in online mode (CBE).

SSC GD Constable 2018-19 Recruitment and Vacancies
This year SSC has announced total 58373 REVISED vacancies for Constable (GD) Post.
Note:
- Candidates selected for appointment are liable to serve anywhere in India.
- 10% vacancies are earmarked for Ex-Servicemen (ExS). If suitable Ex-servicemen candidates are not available, vacancies reserved for Ex-servicemen will be filled by non-Ex servicemen candidates of respective categories.
- Vacancies are state/ UT wise hence a candidate must submit domicile/ Permanent Residential Certificate against his/ her state/ UT.
- The appointment of candidates after selection is subject to availability of seats in training facilities of various CAPFs. As such, candidates may be appointed in phases in accordance with availability of training space.
SSC GD Constable 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit
Age limit is 18-23 years as on August 01, 2018. Candidates should not have been born earlier than August 02, 1995 and later than August 02, 2000.
Note: Only the Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate available on the date of submission of application will be accepted as proof of date of birth.

Educational Qualification
Candidate must have passed Matriculation or 10th class from a recognized Board or University. Candidates who have not acquired the essential educational qualification as on August 01, 2018 will not be eligible and need not apply.
Note:
- The candidates must bring all relevant documents/ certificates in original with self attested copies pertaining to age, education, caste, domicile, hill area, any category for relaxation, No Objection Certificate (NOC)/ discharge certificate (in case of ex- servicemen), which will be checked/ verified at the time of DME by CAPF Board.
- The candidates who are able to prove, by documentary evidence, that the result of the qualifying examination was declared on or before the cutoff date, i.e., August 01, 2018 and he/ she has been declared passed, will be considered to have the requisite Educational Qualification.
Nationality / Citizenship:
Candidate must be a citizen of India. Vacancies are state/ UT wise hence a candidate must submit domicile/ Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) against his/ her state/ UT.
SSC GD Constable 2018 Application Process
Aspirants can start filling the SSC GD Constable Application Form now as the registration process has started now from 17th August till 17th September, 2018 at ssc.nic.in. For your ease we have listed down some relevant information needed while filling the application form. Let’s have a look at those points:
- How to apply: Applications must be submitted only in online mode at http://ssconline.nic.in only. The process of submitting applications for the said recruitment examination consists of two parts: (i) One-Time Registration and (ii) Filling of online Application Form.

- Mode of payment: Fee can be paid through SBI Challan/ SBI Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard or Maestro Credit or Debit card.
- Mode of communication: Candidates are advised to fill their correct and active e-mail addresses and mobile number in the online application as correspondence may be made by the Commission through e-mail/ SMS.
- Photograph and Signature: The digital size of the file of the photographs must be more than 4 kB and less than 20 kB. The digital size of the signature file must be between 1 Kb and less than 12 kb. Photo and signature must be clearly visible and photo must be identifiable also. Applications with blurred photo/ signatures will be summarily rejected.
SSC GD Constable 2018-19 Admit Card
All the registered candidates will be assigned Roll numbers which will be placed on the website of the concerned Regional Office from Feruary 4, 2019.
Note:
- Admit Cards for Computer Based Examination will be uploaded on the website of the concerned SSC Regional Office.
- Facility for download of Admit Cards will be available at least one week before the examination on the website of concerned Regional/ Sub-Regional Office.
- Admit Cards for PET/ PST and DME/ RME will be uploaded on the CRPF website http://www.crpf.gov.in. PET/ PST and DME/ RME will be conducted by various CAPFs as decided by CRPF.
- Admit Card for any stage of examination will not be sent by Post.
- In the case of inability to download Admit cards for PST/ PET and DME/ RME from the website of CRPF, candidates should contact the CRPF at least one week before PET/ PST or DME/ RME.
- Candidates should bring latest two (2) passport size photographs for affixing it in the Commission’s copy of Admit Card in the presence of officials/ Invigilators at the time of Computer Based Examination, PST/ PET and DME/ RME, if required.
- Candidate are advised to keep sufficient copies of the same photograph, which was uploaded in the online application form, with them, till the completion of entire examination process to facilitate easy identification.

Phase-II: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST)
Based on the performance in CBE, candidates will be shortlisted for PET/ PST by the Commission. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Physical Standard Test (PST) will be conducted at various centres finalized by the CAPFs. Phase-III: Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
Candidates will be shortlisted for Detailed Medical Examination (DME) from the pool of candidates who qualify PET/ PST. The purpose of medical examination is to ensure that medically fit candidates are accepted into the CAPFs.

2. Medical Test (X-Ray) chest-PA view, Haemoglobin, Urine routine/ microscopic examination will be must for all candidates under medical examination.
3. Examination of blood pressure, (Normal Range Systolic 100-140 mm of Hg, Diastolic 60 to 90 mm of Hg).
4. Haemoglobin: (Normal Range: 12-16 g/dL for male, 10-14 g/dL for female). Candidates with more than 18 g/dL will be considered unfit. Haemoglobin below 12 g/dL for male and below 10 g/dL for female will be considered as disqualified.
5. Tattoo: Following criteria has been fixed to determine permissibility of Tattoo:
a) Content: Tattoo depicting religious symbol or figures and the name, as followed in Indian Army are to be permitted.
b) Location: Tattoos marked on traditional sites of the body like inner aspect of forearm, but only left forearm, being non saluting limb or dorsum of the hands are to be allowed.
c) Size: Must be less than 1/4 of the particular part (Elbow or Hand) of the body.
6. The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes.

SSC GD Constable 2018 Exam Preparation Strategy
After going through the above mentioned exam pattern and syllabus of SSC GD Constable 2018-19, the next step is to create a study plan and start working on it. For instance, start your practice by solving some previous year question papers and analyse your strong & weak points. Also, one cannot get selected for the post of GD Constable, if the candidate is not physically and medically fit. So, it is advisable for the candidates to not only study hard for the exams but also keep themselves physically and mentally fit through physical exercises to clear the physical and medical tests.

- Regular Practice: Make a habit practicing previous year paper and mock test every day to improve your speed and accuracy. Solve previous year papers as there are many questions which are repeated.

- Focus on your weak areas: First try to focus on you weak areas and spend more time improving them. Devote more time to your weak areas and less time to your strong areas.
- Time Management: Try to manage your time while solving mock papers. Give more time to sections that you are stronger in. This will ensure that you can effectively use the time duration of the exam. Remember that there are no sectional time limits and no sectional cut offs. So your job is to simply maximize your score however you can.
