The students from nursery to class 8 in Delhi schools will be promoted without them appearing for exams under the no-detention policy, said Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia. The Deputy CM who is also the education minister of the state said that the government will begin the online classes for two subjects for the students who are to enter class 12. With regard to the promotion of the students from class 9 to class 11, the minister clarified that the decision will be taken after consulting the CBSE.
Sisodia further added that the examinations for the students until class 8 will not be conducted due to the violence faced in the northeast Delhi region followed by the COVI-9 outbreak which has groped the whole nation bringing it to a national lockdown.
The minister who was speaking in a joint digital press conference along with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also added that the students registering for the online classes will be provided with monetary benefits for buying data packs.
The minister stated that the online classes for the students from class 12 will begin from the first week of April following which the same will be organized for the students from class 10.
The minister also said that the students will receive a daily activity via SMS and IVR which they have to keep details of in a notebook as a project. He also said that the teachers will check these projects as soon as the schools reopen and the students will be marked based on the same.
Schools and other educational institutions have been closed due to the outbreak and spread of the Coronavirus in the last few months. The 21-day national lockdown was initiated by the central government in order to stop the spread of the disease.
