The Education Testing Services has announced a new test for the Assessment of English-language proficiency - TOEFL Essentials. The new examinations are designed for university admissions and other high stake decisions. Check complete details here.

A new test for the Assessment of English-language proficiency - TOEFL Essentials has been announced by the Education Testing Services (ETS). According to an official statement, the examinations are designed for university admissions and other high stake decisions. 

Srikant Gopal, Executive Director of the TOEFL Programme stated that although the TOEFL iBT test has made its place as a standard in international admission space the portfolio of the examination is being expanded with an innovative and versatile TOEFL Essentials Test allowing students to choose the TOEFL test that meets their testing style and preference. He further added that the TOEFL Essentials test and the TOEFL iBT Test can help the students to get to where they want. 

With the resilience and determination of students, they will get past the current COVID-19 situation and the students will continue to pursue the dream to study abroad and succeed.

TOEFL Examinations

TOEFL Essentials will test the students in Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing. The test will also offer the combination of convenience and affordable access and the quality that institutions trust. Fifty per cent of the content of the test will be from Academic English and the remaining 50 per cent will be from General English. The TOEFL Essentials will be a home-based, online, remote-proctored test. Students applying are required to submit an application fee of Rs. 7300. 

The registrations for the TOEFL examinations will commence on June 17, 2021, while the exams will be conducted on August 21, 2021.
